Young Life founder, Jim Rayburn, sent some Texas high school football players, Sam Adams and Pete Bennett, to Spokane. In 1948, Sam and Pete headed out to Central Valley HS to start Young Life along with Claudia Pickert, while Bobby Davis and Jim Hardee went to Deer Park HS. Also, pastors from Sunnyside and Yakima, who met Jim Rayburn, brought Young Life to the Yakima Valley in the '40s.
Each week, across the region, there are over 10,000 kids who are attending Young Life gatherings, from weekly clubs to campaigners bible studies.
Whether it's in cities or towns, across multiple states, Young Life leaders are working with over 300,000 young people, right in their own neighborhoods.
Since 1941, Young Life leaders have walked with kids and earned the right to be heard in an exhausting and exciting world. In 2019, 38,000 kids were impacted relationally across the region.
